My mustang recently overheated and was diagnosed to be the intake that was leaking. After the intake was taken apart there was a freeze plug that seemed to be leaking. They were both repaired and now when I try to start it the coolant pours out of the radiator and the resevoir as the engine cranks! Any idea of what the problem can be?

Hi there,

Water pumping out the filler is a sign of a fairly bad head gasket, this is compression pressure entering the cooling system.

But there is no milky stuff on the oil cap or on the dipstick! Is it possible that it may be something else?

It may be a very blocked radiator, but the way the water reacts is some what different, if you have a pumping effect this is usually compression leaking into the coolant, often this is a head gasket blown between 2 cylinders, there is no oil gallery involved and in the early stages water pressure will not add to much coolant into the combustion chamber, but compression will pump into the coolant, a head check will prove this one way or the other, this is a simple chemical test to check for Co in the cooling system.
