Suggested Repair

Try the starter solenoid, which the expert identified as the likely cause of the no-crank clicking noise.

Conversation Summary

The owner of a 1985 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 said the engine would not turn over and only made a clicking noise under the passenger-side panel, and asked whether the engine control computer had failed. An expert recommended trying the starter solenoid. The owner replied that turning the key still produced only a click from under that panel, which they believed was the computer location.
