Engine 20000 miles

Transmission brand new

just changed carburator

Timing at 12 degrees

If I punch it it stalls, if I accelarate slowly it wil run very smooth but it lacks power. Before I changed transmission and carb if I punched it would burn "a little rubber"

What am I not doing right?

Please help.

Check your fuel pressure and also double check if the accelerator pump circuit is functioning properly and the power valve on it

Double check the dwell angle of the distributor ignition contact point

What is this? Is it a 289CID

My mistake normally when I go under one of them its a 8 banger 289 original -okay here we go, lets do the what I've suggested earlier and report back asap-also test the coil primary and secondary windings resistances, and the distributor pick-up coil resistances and check for short to ground.

Do you have a vacuum advance diaphragm on the distributor?
