My husband's 2003 Ford Focus with 70,000 miles (four cylinder engine) was left outdoors for several weeks at the body shop with the damaged hood removed. Are there any problems that might occurr from the engine's exposure to the elements? Any preventive maintenance that should take place to avoid problems? Thank you very much for your advice. Paula

Did you pick the car up and drive it yet? If it rained, especially if it rained a lot there could be some problems. The alternator shouldn't be allowed to get wet. Wire harness connectors, the distributor and ignition wires shouldn't be allowed to get wet. I clean my engine every 6 months or so at the spray car wash but I cover certain thngs with plastic. Usually if some wiring gets wet it's OK once it drys out. If you haven't picked it up yet and it rained on it you might want to bring it up to the body shop as to why they didn't keep it covered. Otherwise, drive it and see how it is.
