Hello, I have a 2006 Ford F350 6.0L Desiel truck that is having some starting issues. Every once and a while (maybe every 20 starts) the engine won't start. It seems to only happen after I have been driving it and the engine has warmed up. If I open the hood and let the engine cool off it starts with no problem. What could cause this to occur? Could it be a Relay/electrical issue or would it be a mechanical issue.

I've been told that these engines have a high oil pressure injector issue. But I've also read that if this is the issue. If I crank the engine over long enough it will start. But with my truck the only thing that gets it going again is to wait for it to cool down.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also, I have a OBDII reader and I see no error codes.

Thanks,

Norm

The issue is from high pressure oil leak, it is what these engines do. It all depends on the size of the leak as to weather or not the truck will start. With the concern of yours I would be thinking that it is a o-ring in one of the rails instead of the major fittings on the pump. One sure way is when it happens and it will not start watch the oil pressure gauge on the dash, it is for base oil pressure only but it will take longer to move the gauge if you have an oil leak. The scanner will not show you have a code unless the truck dies from not enough oil.
