First, Does this happen after it shifts into overdrive and lock up engages? If your truck is equiped with a tack, watch your RPM, you should notice 3 shifts, (the RPM will drop after each) and then feel another which is lock up engaging.
Ford has a problem with torque converter shudder. The reason for this is, that they recommend Dextron 3.
They've recently gone back and changed it, and now recommend that you use Mecron 5. They also recommend that you do a complete transmission flush and add a addative called shudder fix to your fluid. This should take care of your problem.
I see this problem a lot, usually after customers have spent a few hundred dollars tring to tune the engine up with no results.
You can usually take it to a reputable transmission shop and talk to one of the techs about this and they will fill you in on what all you need done and how much it will cost.
Good Luck, Hope this helps!
