hello; i have a 1992 Ford Probe with 150,000 miles...
I am not able to start it....had to have it towed home.
Just put in a new battery.....car wouldnt start, about a day later
When key is turned engine does not turn over,
no clicking sound, no fuel pump sound....
Someone mentioned some type of neutral lock mechanism....?????
Tried jumper cables....
Any ideas....???

I have the same problem on a '96 Thunderbird. It did this once before several months ago but has started since (the car got jarred and it started). I have been told I should check the neutral safety switch/relay. Where is it and what does it look like?

Post #1 This does not sound like a safety cutoff switch, it sounds like a cable grounding and possible positive cable problem.

Post #2 Getting hit can cause the safety switch to the gas line to shutoff. The reset is often found in the trunk but is spelled out in the owners manual.
