I have a 1998 F150 100,000 miles. 4.6, auto, 4x4. Just lately I am having starting troubles. One minute it starts right off the bat. Turn if off and the next minute, nothing. I can crank and crank not even a hint of wanting to fire. I can pump and pump, no noticeable smell of gas. I can hold it to the floor and crank it, still nothing. Thank you

You need to troubleshoot this when the problem is happening. Since it is fuel injected, pumping the accelerator will only open and close the throttle, with no affect on fuel until it's running. The two things to start with as far as diagnosing is to have a fuel pressure gauge and a spark tester hooked up to see what is being lost. How old are the plugs and fuel filter out of curiousity?

Hi:
I have a ford f 150 1999 truck. The truck won't start when it is hot outside. I had it on the diagnostic machine twice at the repair shop. This is what I replaced: the catalytic converter, the fuel pump and fuel filter. Nothing shows up on the diagnostic machine. When the sun goes down it starts. $1000 later and still the same problem. The truck only has 40,000 miles original. Husband only drives it back and forth to work. HELP!
