What to check next

Diagnostic guidance. Suggested checks and possible repairs are separate from the owner's reported results.

Clarify the reported idle speed and whether a warning light accompanied it. Provide any diagnostic findings already obtained.

hi
without knowing more , and if there are no codes i would suspect the idle air control motor on the throttle body , the get gummed up and stick , but im not saying thats it there could be a few other things , i would pull it off and check it and if it is clogged grab one from the store and replace it cleaning it will only work for a while and if there is an internal short cleaning will not help

Check the coolant temp sensor as well. Sometimes it will go bad and see the engine as never warming up, causing the computer to keep the cold idle speed and mixture settings.
