1997 Ford F-150 97 F-150 Cruise doesn`t work

Have a 97 4.6 F-150 Excab 4X4 the cruise don`t work. Looked in the manual.I check all the fuses, also change the bulb in the upper brake light on the back of the cab because it was out. Cruise still did n`t work. Had a friend tell me to unplug the brake switch on the master cylinder and cruise still did n`t work. For got to check the horn.

Does cruise indicator light come on when trying to set cruise or does it not light at all?
