I had problems shifting into an of the 4 wheel drive gears. Once engaged, worked fine. I was told to us some WD-40 and spray the linkage to help with the shifting issues. Now the 4 wheel drive seems to go into gear (light comes on) but no 4 wheel drive. Ford Dealer is looking charge me $150 just to look at it.

Hi howiebu,

Is your vehicle equipped with mechanical or electrical shift system for the 4X4?

There is a Generic Electronic Module mounted on fuse block below left side of dash panel.

Hi howiebu,

You need to check the electric shift motor mounted to transfer case and its controlling relay.
