Engine cranks and runs fine. When letting off throttle engine will randomly shut off when going to idle. Alternator guage will dip just prior to shut down. Altenator and battery check fine.

Sometimes at idle engine will cycle from low to high idle droping below normal idle speed. Alt guage will dip down as if there is an interminent short and engine will shut off. Always starts back immediately when cranked.

Local Ford dealer no longer has computer diagnostic for this model.

Appreciate any help. MM

Sounds like you may have a problem with your idle air control valve. May need a new one or may just need some cleaning along with the throttle plate and body

If that doesnt solve it check mapp and throttle position sensor. These are all sensors that will give this kind of symptom, depending on severe the problem is with each of the sensors mentioned
