PCV valve/Crankcase filter location

Usually the pcv valve is located at the top of one of the valve cover gaskets usually towards the back of the engine. The crank breather filter is usually located on the side of the air intake breather assembly where your air filter sits in. Just look around those general areas. Shouldn't be to hard to find.

thanks for the help. What was throwing me off was the aluminum intake manifold on top. PCV valve was hidden in the back under it.

Still cannot locate the crankcase filter. I have a 1990 bronco where the crankcase filter sits under the air filter. Similar setup in the F150 but no crankcase filter and no spot for one.

Is there a chance it doesn't have one? The Owner's manual calls for one, and Kragen's computer shows one as well but I've had no less than four people, myself included, look all over the place to no avail

Any thoughts?

This seems wierd. Ah. Your truck should have a crank breather because if it didn't oil would shoot out of the dipstick everytime your truck was running. The crankcase needs the "Breathe". If you cannot find one its pry M.I.A. On the driverside of your truck towards thefront of your engine on the top of the valve cover; there should be a plastic cap that slides into a hole in the valve cover. From this cap there should be a rubber hose coming out of the side of the cap. Follow the rubber hose and you should find where the crank breather is. Or where it should be. Also check your air intake cleaner housing for any empty holes that look like there should be something in it. Its pry where your crank breather should be.

I've had it to five shops. Called the dealer and they say it's under the air filter (like the bronce) it's not.

The hose that comes off the filler cap comes out towards the front of the vehicle, then turns up and into the "Y" connection between the air filter box and the aluminum air manifold. (No filter and apparantly no room for a filter - although you had me checking.)

Isn't this logically where it should be? That or on the PCV valve side? I guess I could jury rig it in place here with some cutting and fitting. Would that be prudent? I'm just trying to check all the boxes on this tuneup. All the data I have says the engine takes one. However, I can't find an exisiting one.

Can take pics if you're interested beyond this.

Well. I got ya some pictures here. I took some of my truck hope they help...

The first picture is where the hose attaches to the cap that sits in the valve cover on the driverside. This hose runs directly over to the air cleaner box.

The second one is of the air cleaner box. The hose that you see is clipped on to the bottom of the box with a metal clip as taurus has mentioned. The crank breather is inside the air cleaner box underneath the air intake filter.

Similar setup to the Bronco but not the F150. No hose going to the breather box from the crank. I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist on this engine.

I am on the road but when I return I will snap a couple pics of my setup and let you guys give it some thought. Thanks for your help.

On this vehicle the crank filter is actually in the air filter box under the air filter itself. There should be a hose at the base of the oil fill cap that clips in to the side of the air filter box that then connects to the crank filter.
