Swaping a Transmission

I need to buy a transmission for my 1993 ford explorer. I dont know much about cars, but my father is going to help me out with the project. I dont have alot of cash, so I was thinking of going to a junk yard and pulling a tranny for my explorer. My question is if I goto an online site such as that you guys mentioned to buy an "online manual", Will it give me steps for pulling and/or putting on a transmission? My dad has done transmissions on other trucks before, but never a 4wd such as mine. If the manual wont have steps how to do it, do you guys know where I can find this information?

What I can tell you is if ya don't have an idea of how to. Don't! Do you guys have a tranny jack? This is a big job, even with a lift?

My dad has done quite a few transmissions, We would just like a guide line to make 100% sure we are doing it correctly. As I said, my dad doesnt have a whole lot of experiance with 4wd's. And yes I have access to a tranny jack If I need one. I can always ask the guy who pulled the old one out of my explorer to help me out, but I would rather not if I can avoid it.
