2004 Ford Explorer 6 cyl
----------------------------------------------------------------
I had the drivebelt replaced on my 2004 ford explorer about 2 weeks ago due to a squealing noise. 2 weeks later it started to squeal again. I took it back in and the crankshaft cap had split in 2 and had destroyed the crankshaft sensor and put a knick in the air conditioning hose. The dealership says that the 2 are unrelated. Does anyone know if this could have happened to the crankshaft cap because they tightened the new drivebelt too much or something else? I am now out over 1K for both repairs and I want to fight the dealership on it.

has an automatic tensioner so chances are they didnt crack it, and if they did it would have appeared alot earlier, now if the belt broke then you might have a case, else wise you got nothing, sorry.
