Transmission seal?

I bought it from the dealer, at the time thye told me it is a sealed transmission and I dont need to serviced it for about 100,000. Due to the factory sealed transmission. Almost 2 years later and still owing $8,000 dollars it looks like my transmission is dying. The question is this under some sort of warranty from Ford cause my warranty from the dealer expired, Can I do it myself?

Since you are out of your powertrain warranty, the best you could do is plead your case that the trans is not serviceable, and ask why they would put such a thing on the road.It isnt like their auto trans's are known for durability or longevity, I have seen many of them go out sooner than yours, even with proper service.

My transmission seemed to be hesitent when shifting. The o/d light was blinking. So the next day I took it in to get fluid checked. While it was in the bay of the service center they said the front seal blew. I think they over filled the tranny fluid. What else would cause this to happen. Mind you I took my explorer in to the shop within 24 hours of noticing the problem. Why would the seal just all of a sudden blow while it was just sitting there with the engine running

Yep, that is an amazing coincidence but it does happen, the front seal would not blow if they overfilled it though.

Hello, I had an inspection today and here are the results

Brake Master Cylinder Leaking
Oil Valve cover and oil pan gaskets worn
All four shocks worn
Door Lock Actuator bad in two doors
Power Steering pump going out
AC and Alternator Bearings going
Rear Transmission Seal Leaking
Transmission slips into neutral sometimes between 1st and 2nd happens everytime you run ac.
Crank Seal Leaking

Is it just time to replace the entire car? I need an opinion because its got 211000 miles and is this stuff worth fixing?

Transmission problem could be simple. Or major (i know little about the newer computer stuff)

excluding the tranny--if you diy the rest of the issuesyou could probably do them for less than $500

I am buying a 96 explorer from a friend he had to replace the flywheel and while in there replaced a leaking front tranny seal however the seal blew out I have since replaced it and am wondering what would make the seal blow out and if I should be worried about it recurring

Chances are the torque converter is worn. The converter slips through the seal. If it is worn, it will cut the seal.

Sorry I can't be of help to what causes the seal failure. But I would like to know how you went about fixing the seal the first time. Did you do it yourself or have a mechanic do it? Also what was the cost? I have a 1996 ford explorer limited addition with a tranny fluid leak. After having a friend look at it he suggest it's the front seal. I just had this truck inspected and engine is strong, just wondering if it's worth fixing or time for a new vehicle.

The pads "all four" wheels will be $50 - $60 their cost.
The rotors "all four" wheels will be $100- $120 their cost

That pads would be around $100 your cost.
The rotors would be around $180 your cost
They will probably charge you $280
for all pads and rotors
Labor some where around $200
So just your brakes alone "all four wheels" complete pads, rotors, labor will cost you $480 in that vicinity (reasonable)

I do not know what 2 oil seals are leaking so I can not "guesstimate" that.
I do not know what 1 seal in you trans is leaking so I can not "guesstimate that either.

Let me know what the "seals" needed are. All 3 of them and I could give you a reasonable cost to expect.

I recently changed the pitman arm seal on my steering gear box due to it was leaking, the installation consists of a flat washer, seal kit, dust cover, washer and snap ring. The problem is I installed the first washer, seal and dust cover I had no room for the second washer and snap ring I thought I installed them unevenly so I pulled them out and bought a new kit and reinstalled, same problem, this is the right seal for my truck, I just installed the snap ring and left out the last washer there are no leaks and everythings ok but I dont want the seal to blow out on me while im driving,

My primary concern is the last washer distributes pressure on the seal. Without it, the seal could leak again. Are you sure there was no way to get it into place?

I put a socket around each part and tapped into place everything is set as far as they will go, I looked at several diagrams online and none show any washers just the seal and dust cover, I thought the washer actually created the seal, maybe I should remove the top washer not the bottom

Were can I find a exploded view of the pump seal, 1993 ford explorer, maybe the design has changed all seals im finding dont have washers just dust cover and than snap ring?

I have a 93 ford explorer and my front transmission seal went out but to drop it out to replce the seal do I have to remove the exhoust, I dont want to have to replace it, most of it is rusted together.

I hate to say it, but yes. Otherwise, you won't have enough room to remove the trans unless you are able to get it up and over the Y pipe.
