Hi Jennifer.

There are separate sending units (or sensors) for both of these gauges. If the temp gauge NEVER goes up from 0, I would suspect that the sending unit is bad or has lost connection. Similarly with the oil pressure sending unit - If it stays bottomed out, we either have absolutely no oil pressure, or the sensor is just not working. There is also a possibility that it is a wiring issue.
If you want to attempt to repair this yourself, I would start by getting a repair manual. Haynes and Chiltons are the most common. If you have to replace both sending units, I would estimate the temp switch to be around $15 and the oil switch $25-30?
