When the driver's door is open the very obnoxious and loud door alarm (bell) sounds and it will not stop until door is closed. There is no key in ignition, (so vehicle is not running) nor are the lights on. How do I turn the bell off? Thanks for any help. :?

Ignition switch is broken and stuck in the on position somehow or something is on to cause the bell to ring.

I agree. It sounds like the ignition switch is broken. If you are sure that your headlights are not left on, and there is no key in the ignition, then it's the ignition switch. I've replaced several switches (more Explorers than others) with this problem. I've actually had several that I could start the vehicle without the keys simply by turning the ignition switch if this condition existed!
