I agree. It sounds like the ignition switch is broken. If you are sure that your headlights are not left on, and there is no key in the ignition, then it's the ignition switch. I've replaced several switches (more Explorers than others) with this problem. I've actually had several that I could start the vehicle without the keys simply by turning the ignition switch if this condition existed!
