1997 Ford Explorer V6 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 88000 miles

The left turn signal generally does not work. If I play with the 'signal lever' (move it forward and down), I can sometimes get the left signal lights to work. Right signal and emerg. Flashing lights (both sides) work fine. Got any ideas? Thanks

The turn signal switch is part of what is known as the multi-function switch. It is common for them to go bad. But they are fairly easy to replace.
