1997 Ford Explorer engine reving

The engine sometimes revs up ans down when idling, both in park and in drive, when stopped at a light. Doesn't do it when I take it to the mechanic but they thought it might be the antifreeze, so they changed it. Only helped a little. Any idea?

THe coolant in the engine has nothing to do with the engine's idle. Has the check engine light come on? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Check enigine light just came on tonight. No I haven't checked for vacuum leaks.
