Goes good in 1st and 2nd gear but wont go in drive or reverse only moves slighly at 3500 rpms

Yea check engine light has been on for long time even b4 it acted up. How do I fix that bad shift solenoid n how much will it cost?

Has the check engine light come on? It sounds like a bad shift solenoid.

Before doing anything, have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Chances are the computer knows what is wrong with the transmission. Many parts stores will do it for free.

Do that and let me know what you find. Also, if it is a shift solenoid, the computer should identify which one it is. You need to remove the pan to access the solenoid. Parts should be under a hundred dollars.

The overdrive light flashes its been flashing awhile put some lucas oil transmission slip in n it helped a lil for a mile drive then acted up again

It may just be the clutches are bad. However, if the light is flashing, I would suggest having the computer scanned to see why the OD light is flashing.
