1996 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 103.00 miles

when it sits for a day or two, u can get in and it shifts great, about 3 or 4 miles it clunks about 20mph just before u come to a stop sign or light.

Can you tell aprox where the sound is coming from? Have you checked trans and motor mounts? Also, check the tracking bar bushings. They are a common problem that makes a clunk. Also, let me know if the trans is shifting properly.
