Hello,
I had a couple of questions. First of all, is Pep Boys a reliable place to take your care? Second of all, is $400 a reasonable price to replace the power steering pump, pressure line and steering belt? Lastly, a mechanic told me that my car, being its age and make, does not usually last much longer after 150,000 miles. Invest the money to repair or start car shopping?

much appreciated,
ryan

Hi there,

We are not in a position to advise on repairers, sorry. As for the pump and other repairs, you would be best rinsing around for a few quotes, but your price is a bit much I feel. As for the reliability of your car. This is more about how you feel with what you have, and if you are happy to spend money on it as it is required, I drive a car that is quite a few years older than yours and it is ultra reliable, if you look after your car, it will look after you. So do you want to send money on a new car? Or keep what you know? That is the question you must ask your self.
