If I turn the key everything lights up like normal but nothing happens with the starter. If I turn it to run and touch the points on the selenoid it starts right up and runs fine so I was thinking it was the neutral safety switch but the radio doesn't work at all. I don't think the ignition and radio share a fuse but I checked all the fuses that say radio or ignition and they looked okay but the fuse box layout in the owner'sanual doesn't match the one that exists. Any ideas?

Try resetting your security system first if no manual look online. Pictured are fuses for radio but it may be the gem module bad so have it scanned. Could also be an ignition switch. Also check the fusible link s in second pic they could also be the problem.

I have the Mach radio system in my expo and the display does not work. I was told that it is just a bulb behind the display and I was also told that I have to replace the whole display on the radio. Wich is true? Thanks andy

Randy,

Is your radio am/fm/with a disc player in the center consol? If so, it needs replaced. There is a place in Pennsylvania that sells them. The last time I priced one it was 150.00 dollars. If you need the number, let me know.

Joe

Is this the factory radio? Have you checked to make sure the plugs in the rear of the radio are still attached? Let me know.

I also have a 1997 ford expedition 4x4 auto eddie bauer edition. The stereo comes on but it is stuck on headphone jack only. I hooked up a 6x9 speaker an still no sound just from headphone jack in the back set area. Do I need to change out an put a new stereo in?

Electrical problem V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 282000 miles

I Just put a new stereo in my Expedition but there is no sound, Im being told it's because of my amplifier something to do with it needing to be turned on.
Im not sure, I was not explained it to very clearly.

My problem was that no sound was coming from any speakers due to the amp not being turned on by my new stereo, Im assuming that all the speakers in the car are turned in by this amp?

Anywho what I tried doing and work was takeing the amp wire and plugging it into the wire coming from the stereo called a remote wire.

It turns on my amp and gave me sound!

=)

I just need some advice, tip's or help of some kind please!

Yep the amp needs to see a trigger from the new stereo. Use the antenna trigger (blue wire I believe) and connect it to the amp trigger wire which I have for you in the wiring diagrams below. Its the dark blue wire that goes to the amp.

Please let us know what happens so it will help others.

Cheers, Ken

The vehicle likely has a remote amplifier that must be bypassed. When GM and Ford radios use an amp, those radios must be used with an amp, and when they are not used with an amp, they cannot be used with an amp. Only Chrysler radios all will work with or without an amp, regardless what they came with.
