Just started noticing this about 1-2 months ago. I have an 04 Expedition 4WD 5.4L V8 with 114,000 miles on it. When I am driving between 50-65 MPH, and going uphill, right before the vehicle needs to down shift (to maintain speed or accelerate), it makes a progressive rumbling noise that you can hear from the outside and feel under the floor boards. If I let up off the gas the problem goes away, or if I step on the gas right before I know it's going to shift (hard acceleration) it doesn't happen. Only happens when I gradually increase speeds or try to maintain speeds up a hill, and it needs to shift gears. This also is happening in 2WD, I have not tried driving in A4WD, so not sure if it would happen when driving it that way. I changed the Transmission filter about 1 month ago, along with trany fluid, but problem existed before this was done. Any help out there would be appreciated!
Thanks
