Our check engine light has been on since we got the car about two years ago. We went to auto zone and code P0446 came up. Now there are multiple things that this could mean from what I hear. The problem is that we don't know where to start and we aren't sure where the parts we need to check are even located. Any suggestions would be greatful. The only thing we have tried so far is changing the gas cap and that hasn't worked.

Yes this code can mean many things and honestly would not worry about it unless you have state emission testing and/or it is effecting the vehicle's performance.

The first place to start is with inspecting the fuel vapor hoses/tubes (hoses at the EVAP canister purge outlet tube and EVAP canister tube). Visually inspect the EVAP canister inlet port, CV solenoid filter and the canister vent hose assembly for contamination or debris.
