Today when I went to start the vehicle, it started but within about 10 seconds it died, the radio, wipers, and headlights remained on. When I attempted to start the second time, it died within about 5 seconds, half the time of the first start, the third time I tried, it wouldn't even start, but the lights, etc remained on.
what could the problem be?

Hi:
Is your vehicle an Explorer? They didn't make the expedition in 91. Regardless, you need to check for spark and fuel. After you check, tell me which is missing.

Sorry, it is a 2001 Expedition, and about a month ago, the service engine light was on and the dealership replaced something---fuel pressure regulator? And fuel filters. This is the first time it has even stuttered since then.

Hi:
Ok, now I know what we are talking about. When you say "this is the first time it strddered since then" do you mean it's trying to start? Is the service engine light on now? Also, I would contact the dealer regarding the fuel pressure regulator. Based on what you're saying, it sounds like a fuel problem again. It may be the pump this time.

Regardless, let me know the answers to the above listed questions.

My husband picked me up from work and we went home and tried again, and it started right up. I let it idle for a bit, turned it off, and it started up again. We drove to the dealership, they said since it is working now, they would have to charge me to check it again, which I don't necessarily have the money to pay now, so we drove away.I am praying it will continue to start up.

When it was trying to start, the service engine light was NOT on. Wierd, huh. My first reaction was something with the fuel was messed up. Again, but it ran fine. At the dealership, they started it again 5x and it started right up again, so we just chose to wait on further diagnosis. Should it happen again, I will be returning to this site!
Thank you.

So, today it did it again. It would only stay running with the gas pedal pushed, so I two footed it to the dealership in town. They are saying it is the idel air control valve, and are fixing it. We will see if it works and fixes the problem! Just wanted to update you.
Thanks
