Flashing air bag light

I have a 97 ford escort 5 speed. Last night the airbag light starting flashing I noticed that it had a regular patter. It would flash 5 times then stop for a few seconds and flash 3 more times, stop for a longer period and start over again.

Sure it's not the other way around, 35? I don't see 53 lfc. Lamp flash code. 35 is an issue with the passenger side airbag. Airbags are dangerous to work with unless you're well-schooled with them. Most reputable sites will not entertain airbag questions at all. If it's indeed a code 53, maybe someone can confirm that, I only see 35. I'd recommend proficient help with this.
