flashing air bag light

I have a 97 ford escort 5 speed. Last night the airbag light starting flashing I noticed that it had a regular patter. it would flash 5 times then stop for a few seconds and flash 3 more times, stop for a longer period and start over again.

Sure it's not the other way around,,35??? I don't see 53 lfc. lamp flash code... 35 is an issue with the passenger side airbag... airbags are dangerous to work with unless you're well-schooled with them... most reputable sites will not entertain airbag questions at all... If it's indeed a code 53, maybe someone can confirm that, I only see 35.... I'd recommend proficient help with this...
