2001 Ford Escort Service engine soon light

I wrote before that my escort runs find except for when I stop at a light or in traffic. Than it run rough and sometimes stalls. When I put cleaner in it corrects the problem for a day or so and then it starts again. Now the service engine soon light comes on. What should I be looking for?

First thing I would do is pull the codes from the computer.

I wouln't be surprized at a dpfe or iac valve problem. The iac valve can be cleaned and often with success.

If the the fault code is something to the effect of restricted egr flow, I would lean towards the DPFE.

I assume the plugs and the fuel filter have been changed by now.
