Transmission No Forward Movement

I have a escort with a 2.0 and automatic trans. I was driving along the other day and the trans just stopped working. It had no signs of failure. It wasn't slipping. There was no loud noise or anything. It would rev up but go nowhere. I changed out the fluid and filter and it still wont move. All gears are not working. The car starts fine and runs fine. I can kind of feel the trans shift and when I have someone else shift I can see it changing under the hood. Its almost like its just not engaging for some reason. Is there a fuse for the trans or something electrical that might cause this problem.

This is most likely an issue with the pump inside the unit. If you have new fluid and it is the correct level and you can see the shifter is putting it in gear then the issue is inside the unit.

Here is a guide that helps with this issue in general:

The fact that you have no gears then that means this issue is something that will effect all gears and that is most likely the pump is not creating pressure in the unit.

In order to prove this we need to test the pressure. I am attaching the process on how to do this and replace the pump if this proves out.
