1996 Ford Escort fan motor sensor location

My motor fan is not coming on to cool the engine and I need to determine whether the fan is bad or the sensor is bad. I am having trouble locating the sensor and also how to test the fan motor; not able to determine the positive & negative?

hello, my info show the above location for the ect sensor, wiring colors are light green with black tracer and blue with white tracer. 1.9 At the fan connector black is ground, the other two are voltage, high and low speed.
