1994 Ford Escort leakind coolent

My car seems to be leaking coolent from between the tranny and motor. The car was ran low on coolent but it wasnt empty. I cant see any frost plugs that are bad and the block around the head gasket look fairly dry. I am stumped. I am at the point of pulling the head of but dont want to go any farther. I also have the water pump exposed and it doesnt appear to be leaking from there, and it is a pretty good flow that is coming out. Please help

Pulling the head !!
if the leak is between the engine and tranny inside the bell housing
and no leak on top I would think its a freeze plug behind the flywheel and would pull out the tranny and or engine
