You first need to look for vacuum leaks including a bad PCV valve. Check that little right angle rubber adaptor on the top of the engine that goes to the pcv valve because they get soft & crack. Next, check the rubber corrugated hose from the filter section to be sure it's not cracked & leaking and that the clamps are tight. Then, if it still has the problem, clean the throttle body & butterfly valve-- typical buildup that restricts air flow during idle. Clean the idle air control valve(right at the throttle body too).
