My Escort wagon decided it no longer wants to start. When I insert the key the fuel cutout light comes on, but the inertia switch is still in place. It has occasionally had trouble turning over, but that is periodic. I thought the battery might be going south so I bought a new one only a week before the car decided to stop working. All electrical still works but I'm not getting anything as far as the engine turning over. Just the click sound when I turn the key. Any ideas?

That seems like its probably it. However I no idea where to find the starter in the engine. From everything I'm reading I can't get a clear picture of the location.
