When moving along, the transmission sometimes downshifts from overdrive one gear and won't shift into overdrive without first coming to a complete stop. Doesn't do it all the time, but when it does, I drive at higher RPMs burning more gas and more engine work.

No lights or warnings. Nothing. It just downshifts on its own.

It could be the result of a few different things, shift solenoid, converter, trans control module. The problem is this. Without a light coming on, it becomes a guessing game. If it continues to do it and you get no check engine light, it will have to be checked by a trans tech.
