I have a Ford excort 88 automatic 55, 00 miles. When I first got it a week ago it was fine. About 4 days ago it started kicking when it would go into a new gear (usally around 25 mph). Now it got worse, still kicks and in the morning it hesitates to start and often when I stop it will just die completely. And if it does not die when I stop, sometimes it will die when I accelerate after a stop light or sign.

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad fuel (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)
