My engine has a loud knocking noise most likely the rod bearings. Does any one know the going rate for fixing that

If it is the bearings than the motor will need removed, overhauled and installed which will take approx. 30 labor hours for an experienced repair shop. At an average labor rate of 75 per hour that adds up to an estimate of $2,250 in labor fees alone. Would be best just to swap the engine assembly with a known good motor which will only take approx. 10 labor hours with an estimate of about $750 labor fees.
