Van has always ran great. Today, I started it up, let it warm for 10 minutes and drove to the store 1/2 mile away. Left it running while I went inside. Came back out, it had died. Wouldn't start, just crank. After waiting about 10 minutes it started, ran for about 30 seconds and died. Now it won't start at all. I checked the ignition coil and it's fine. Any ideas?

What to check next

Diagnostic guidance. Suggested checks and possible repairs are separate from the owner's reported results.

Have diagnosis performed while the no-start is present and provide the brief restart-after-waiting history. Verify the engine and fuel-system configuration before using component-location advice.

Check that your fuel pump is running when you turn the key on. If not the relay is on the passenger side under the hood. They get full of rust and go bad. This pertains to electric fuel pumps and electronic fuel injected vans. :)

Discussion summary

88 Ford Econoline 350

A 1988 Econoline E350 stalled after warming up. It restarted after a wait, ran briefly and stalled again, then would crank without starting. The owner reported checking the ignition coil.

Reported outcome: No successful repair or confirmed cause was reported.

Replies suggested an ignition module, fuel delivery and a relay. None was confirmed, and the relay-location advice was explicitly limited to an electronically fuel-injected configuration.
