Heater problem
1993 Ford E-Series Van V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

What should I look for if I suspect a bad heater core? I smell anti-freeze in the cab, have fluid on the passenger side floor board, windows fog up due to probably the radiator fluid behind the dashboard. If it is doing this, does it mean that it absolutely has to be changed or is there something they do other than change it?

Hello
It has all the signs of a faulty heater core. You can turn your heater on high after engine is warm then go under hood and touch the two hoses leading to heater core at the firewall. Both hoses should be warm to touch. If not then heater core is definitely bad. You can bypass the heater core by adding another piece of hose to connect the two heater hoses leading to the heater core at the firewall. This is a temporary fix and you obviously will not have heat until heater core is replaced.
