Ignition switch

I have a 89 ford crown vic. When you put the key in it will not turn. I have turnd the steering wheel bank and forth. and still nothing.

Have you tried a different key? Try pulling it out a hair and turning it. Try pushing it in firmly and see if it will turn.

The lock cylinders are not very expensive and fairly easy to install. I do believe you must be able to turn it to the on position tho. The down side is now the door key and the ignition key do not match.
