Interior problem
1993 Ford Crown Victoria V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 93 Ford Crown Vic P74. I dont know much about nothing with cars. This is my first. (SO bare with me) All the power doors lock and unlock in the car like they should. The problem is that you cant use the key to unlock the doors from the outside if you do lock the doors. I took the door panel off and noticed that there is a metal rod in the door pointing up towards the locks but it isnt connected to anything. Got any idea what is the problem (Like if it is that rod) or how I can go about fixing it myself. Thanks in advance I REALLY appreciate it.

Both front door have exterior locks?
None work?
Will the Key turn?
Were the locks working at one time for you?
If keys do not turn locks, the ignition key assembly may have been replaced and not matched to the doors?

Yes sir both front doors have exterior locks (NO keypads btw). Neither of them work. When you put the key in yes theyll turn. But its like theres no connection it doesnt unlock or lock anything. No sir the key locks never worked at all. I was told it was the selenoids. Bit I doubt that as the lock switches inside the car lock and lock fine. Theres no noise or anything of that sort. The car didnt have keys when I bought it so I had to get a locksmith to cut me some new keys. For the doors and the ignition and the trunk :P When you use the door key it just turns like theres no connection or something. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate it.
