There really is no way to disengage them. I had automatic hubs on my 92 bronco but I replaced them with manual ones after my first offroad adventure getting buried over the rear differential in mud. So it's either put it in and out of 4x4 till they release or just get some manual hubs.

I've watched video on this you have to drive 10 to 15 feet in reverse to fully unlock hubs

I have a similar problem with the assembly but mine is auto. I was able to pull the hub assembly but as I pulled the it off, pieces of what appear to be a gear ring fell off. Have no clue what or where they need to be replaced. I stopped there and haven’t pulled off the spindle nut to get to the bearings. Does anyone have an exploding diagram that I can reference to see what this part is and order a replacement somewhere? Also maybe a procedure or link on how to replace the rotors since these are shot(original) :-0? Thanks!
