I have an 89 Bronco with a 302. The odomieter reads approx. 80k. The truck sat for quite a while before I got it. It runs rough at all speeds and the exhaust is enough to knock you down. Not smoking, just very strong odor. Also, the truck is getting very poor gas mileage. Around 6-8 mpg.
I did a complete tune up. Plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Didn't help a bit. The plugs were dry and looked almost new. I was thingking maybe a bad injector, but where is all the fuel going?
Please help !

Check the fuel pressure and also check the map sensor because the map sensor tells the computer whether to run lean or rich according to barometric pressure

Is there any way to check a MAP sensor? Other than pulling codes.

There is alot that can go wrong by letting a vehicle sit for along time.
1. Fuel turns to varnish and gums up everything includeing the injectors. ( Drain and clean tank, drain fuel lines and change filter. Run a cleaner wiyh clean fuel through entire system. This also can cause varnish was out that has adhered to the lines. Hopefully it will flush trough.)
2. Oil will also varnish out and stick lifters and not open valves properly as well as stick valves open.

All these things lead to bad performance and economy. You should be getting 12 to 15 MPG.
