My 1995 4wd Aerostar (212,000) oil pressure and temperature gauge have begun to act up....after driving 400 miles continuosly ,the oil gauge dropped from normal (at the "r") to just above the"n" and the temp gauge rises for a few minutes to the "l" and will bounce around. Letting it sit for a while, returns both to normal...both levels are good.

Replaced thermostat about 10,000 miles ago (6mos.). When I slowed down from 65mph to around 40-45mph the oil pressure gauge dropped to near the "n"... but today, it ran beautifully. (about 15 degrees cooler outside). (220 miles)

if the temp guage goes up mainly when it's warm and going uphill, could well be the fan clutch.
