Okay, so I got my license and my car today. Not even five minutes while driving it home, the hot coolant temperature light came on. So I pulled over to the side of the road, and the engine was not hot at all so no sign of overheating, which I know it should not after just five minutes. All the fluids were checked prior to leaving so what could cause this? Bad sensor maybe?

Could be if fluid is full and hoses do not feel hot, it could be air in system as well check for air bleed screws on thermostat housing and radiator. We do not have pictures of those. The start car and bleed air, coolant level may go down as well.
