It makes a putting sound then when I press on the gas it gets a lot worse. the guy i bought from said at first it was the manifold and that he j.b.welded it but it came right off. now he is telling me it is a crack under the head gasket. when i looked up what a blown head gasket sound like it makes that same noise.

Has he told you that it is an exhaust leak or a misfire? is it using coolant? over heating? has he done a compression test or a head check test? you need to do some hands on diagnosis, you do not want to be pulling heads if the problem is a blown exhaust gasket or a cracked exhaust manifold .
