I have a 2003 Durango RT Edition that’s been wrecked and has a bent frame, but the 5.9L engine is still fine.I was wondering whether the 5.9L engine would fit in my 2002 Ram 1500 SLT, which has a 4.7L.
The Durango is all-time all-wheel drive.
The Ram is 4x4.

Yes. It will fit but it is not just a plug and play. There are a number of things you are going to have to prepare for.

First, what transmission is in both units? If they are different then you will most likely have to account for that. They are both RFE transmissions but the cases could be different so the mounts are going to be different. Then you will have to deal with the different mounting locations for the engine.

Plus you will have to account for the PCM and wiring harness. This is going to have to be moved over from the other vehicle.

Lastly there are going to be things that come up that you will have to work through. Clearly it is hard to know for sure what you are going to run into but if you are willing to work through them then it is doable.

Please let us know if you have other questions. Thanks
