I was going to buy a newer age one but I bought the whole 2007 Charger to swap with the engine in my car listed above for only $1,000.00 which isn’t bad. All I wanted was the motor which was rebuilt from Dodge I got paper work etc. I got the engine in and went to go turn it on then I got a code p0010 can shaft sensor. Everyone is telling me to switch the sprocket of the timing chain, but my question is, what exactly would I have to do to get it to work? If it’s possible please this is driving me insane any advice would be awesome. Thank you if needed more info will give please and thank you!

The connector is not your issue. Take a look at the wiring diagrams. The first one is the CAM sensor for the 2007 and the second is the 2010.

The 2007 has the cam signal on pin 1 and the 5 volt supply is pin 3.

The 2010 has the cam signal on pin 3 and the 5 volt supply on pin 1.

Just cut the wires about 3 inches behind the connector and then switch them and solder them back together. That should solve your issue.

Let me know how you make out. Thanks

I did then received this code not sure if it’s cause. I didn’t soldered it yet or not just wanted to see if it would start up or not it’s still continuing to make the sound it was prior. I'm going to check my connections tomorrow but pretty sure it’s correct.

Did you have those codes before or are they new? Also, what sound is it making when cranking it? Can you get a video of this?

Yeah, I will get video after work and codes showed up after spice before it was only p0010 which went away. Now it’s the other to it’s just cranking over and over. Again but I will definitely upload a video after work.

Okay. The P0340 may be able to be solved however, I didn't think of this before but the 2007 hemi did not have variable valve timing so the PCM is looking for this actuator and it is not there so that light is most likely going to remain. I am not sure if this will prevent the engine from starting but let's go through the testing attached for the P0340 and once that is solved, we will see if the other code will prevent the start.

Checked wiring going to check it all fully tomorrow, but today I came across fuel. I have ignition, I have compression and no fuel. I took fuel rail off and had a buddy hold the injector up to see if fuel came out of the injector but it did not. So we switched injectors with one of my old ones and same result no fuel coming out. While I prime it I checked the fuel injectors their getting power.

Okay. That helps. We may have an issue with those videos. Which engine controller are you using? I assume you left the PCM from the 2010 because you don't have VIN mismatch codes. If this is the case, we may have issues with the 5 volt signal. If you used the 2010 PCM did you leave the 2010 wiring harness as well?

Yeah, I keep the same harness and computer as I was told if I switch them I could lock the whole computer up and wasn’t sure if it would have effected the the all wheel drive system or not. A buddy of mine said to try and switch the reuluctrator wheel? But as well as I was thinking about it I don’t know if this would cause it not to start. But the 2007 motor does not have a VVT to where the 2010 did have it. Sorry for late response broke my phone!

And come to think about it I swapped the mds harness due to it being different as well.

But it was also just rebuilt from dodge with only 20,000 miles on it so I don’t know if I should go that route just yet or could it be as simply as switching the computer system and have a ECU reprogram learn? Or just buy the VVT cam lock?

It is not a matter of locking the phasers because your computer is looking for VVT system that your engine no longer has.

Also, you are correct, you cannot switch the PCMs as they are VIN specific.

Let me do a little research and see if there is a way we can trick it. I imagine we are going to have to get a programmer to tell the PCM to stop looking for some of these things so that it will act like it is not there.

I will let you know what I find.
