When I put away my foot from accelerator engine stops working. I have to restart the car again and again and have to put my foot on accelerator all the time to keep engine on.

Hi,

If the engine stalls when you take your foot off the accelerator, it can be a few different things. First, the idle speed is controlled by what is called an idle air control valve. If the valve stays closed, it won't allow air to enter the engine at idle and the engine will stall.

Next, there could be an engine vacuum leak that causes it. If excessive air gets into the engine, the fuel mixture will be lean and cause issues as well.

So where do we start? What I suggest is to check for diagnostic trouble codes that can point us in the right direction. I'm suggesting this because there are several things that can cause it.

This vehicle has an OBD1 system that doesn't require a scan tool to retrieve codes. Follow the directions in this link:

Do this and let me know the results. Additionally, here is a link that you may find of interest:

Let me know if any of this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
